B19-71-08 has been owned by Mike Catlow since 2000.

John Hine's first race in the B19 was at the Oulton Park Daily Express meeting in April 1971, round 1 of the RAC British Sportscar Championship, where engine problems saw him non-starting. One month later things improved considerably when Hine, setting a new lap record, finished second at Silverstone for round 3 of the RAC Championship to the D.A.R.T. B19 driven by John Miles. Two weeks later Hine finished 4th in the second round of the European 2-litre Championship at the Salzburgring.

A problem with a fuel pressure relief valve saw Hine retire from the Silverstone European 2-litre Championship race, the Martini International Trophy, in June after qualifying third. The run of bad luck continued in round 5 of the RAC series when a broken oil pipe in the second heat saw Hine fail to finish at Croft after another third fastest qualifying effort and a second place finish in heat one. An accident resulted in another DNF at the next round at Brands Hatch in August after yet another third fastest time in practice. The final round of the RAC series at Thruxton in September saw Hine start from fourth on the grid and finish ninth following a spin.

The final race of the season for the B19 was round 7 of the European 2-litre Championship at Zandvoort where Hine was completely dominant, qualifying second to the B19-Abarth of Hezemans, Hine comfortably won both heats to take an aggregate win by nearly 40 seconds.

The one-off race in the Red Rose car for Brian Redman and Richard Attwood at Paul Ricard for the opening round of the European 2-litre Championship saw the B19 qualify 11th and finish 8th in a field of 28 cars.
